MARC JACOBS: SPRING SUMMER 2010

Two words: sweet jesus. I think this collection really puts a fresh spin on the whole bright colors fetish. Seriously, I can't stop staring at it. Oh, god im drooling. The basic combinations of tunics and tulip skirts are spiced up with patterns and popping accessories which make it delicious. I like how these are all curve-friendly too. Sometimes I feel like overlaying and stiff blazers and dresses can hide your true form. This collection excensuates curves, while still upholding the bold and fresh appeal needed for the runway. For people who can afford Marc Jacobs, I am turning green. But for people like me, who go for the thrift, or the cheap but chic approach to fashion, you can steal ideas for great looks. For example, trendy big bows, or strappy heels can be "the cherry on the sundae"; the perfect asset to a bright romper or belted dress. (Sidenote: Rae has a pair of Harem pants just like the ones on the bottom left)

Bravo, Marc Jacobs. Bravo.

Yes it is definitely on the more expensive side, but it is so worth it. Plus, it will last forever.

Pumkins, ghosts, and trick-or-treaters, Halloween is in TWO more days!! Well if your going trick-or-treating, let me rephrase that, if your awesome like that, you better make those finishing touches on your costume--Vite! Tu depeche! Well I'm making you a list of the some awesome must-have costume finishing touches (accessories).

1. MAKEUP. Make it overdone, even outrageous. For example, for my Alice in Wonderland costume I'm going to wear an insane amount of pink blush and lots of mascara. You want to make sure that your make-up is theatrical, while still using the basic skills in applying makeup in the way that you always do, to put your best face forward.

2. WIGS. Well if your costume calls for a different color hair or different style, sometimes wigs are the way to go. You could always use that spray hair color, but really it just gives you streaky greasy hair. And, really, who wants to be spraying something other than product into their hair?? If you can find one that you really like, sometimes wigs can totally make the costume.

3. SHOES. No matter what your costume is your shoes should be amazing! This is the time to bring out the dusty platform heels or to wear those glittery ballet flats. With Halloween, the more, the better. This applies to your feet too.

4. JEWELRY. As my personal favorite accesory, I think that you can dec yourself in some awesome jewelry. For example, if your going as an angel wear pearls or diamonds (fake), or if your going as a devil wear some red hot bangles. Be creative, but don't go overboard and let it take away from your costume.

Happy Almost Halloween!!

Two in One: Tube Top or Pencil Skirt

Silence and Noise Ghost Print Tube Top - Urban Outfitters

You could wear this as a tube top. To really bring it out as a feature of the outfit, pair it with some rockin' cords, and a long sequin cardigan, with laceup boots. You could also wear it underneath a high waisted skirt with floral stockings and short, furry boots (Wear strappy gladiators for spring or summer). For a cozy and casual look, layer the bejesus out of it with lightweigt cardigans and button down shirts, and whip out your secret weapon--your favorite pair of blue jeans. This shirt calls for crazy awesome hair, too.

To wear it as a pencil skirt, you could put it over a plain white tee. Go nuts on nail polish and make your eyes pop with liquid eyeliner, and a cool colored cream eye shadow. You could also wear it over a lose fitting tunic, and overlap a cardigan. For this look, you should definitely pick a good pair of shoes, and use bronzing lotion on your legs. If you want to be creative, you could put another skirt on top of it. This skirt of course, would have to be shorter, and more "poofy". This way, the pencil skirt will show through at the bottom. you could use this method for a dress too ( put a skirt over a dress). Be sure to Accesorize :)

Halloween Dilemma

I can add to Ronni's frustration over a costume. I'm being Tinkerbell, and until like, yesterday, I did not have a dress. I found one that was perfect, and it also happened to be nearly impossible to get. After searching for one that could pass as a green woodlen fairy-ish dress, my mom suddenly remembered we had a green bridesmaid dress in the closet. With a little DIY, like a jagged hem, some bringing in, and a different neckline, it will be perfect! I'm so excited : )
HALLOWEEN, as we all know, is right around the corner! Rae, me and a bunch of friends are going as disney characters. I am going as Alice in Wonderland. (Rae is going as tinkerbell) I have had alot of trouble trying to find a costume surprisingly. Most of the actual Alice costumes I have found have been either not in my size, or way too short for my parent's approval. So, I have been looking for a blue dress that could work as an Alice dress. I found one on Alloy, but unfortunately is really expensive:

Ruched Front Dress Alloy- $42.90

Although this is the best dress I've found so far, I found some other ones that might work too.

Tiana B. Women's Scoop-neck Dress

Tiana B. Women's Scoop Neck Dress Overstock-$17.09

Contact Women's Sleeveless Scoop-neck Dress

Contact Women's Sleeveless Scoop Neck Dress Overstock-$15.29

Well, as you can see all these dresses from overstock are pretty much the same. Although the prices are much less, I think the one from Alloy would be better for Alice in Wonderland, and I would probably wear the dress besides Halloween more often than I would with one of these other dresses. Plus I am wearing a petticoat with the dress, so I have to get a dress with plenty of room on the bottom.

Well, enough about the dress. I am wearing a petticoat, and i am making a white apron for it. I don't know what i'm going to do about the dress but I'll figure it out.

Well, for those of you who are looking to create-your-own halloween costume, try looking in the clearance sections of general stores online, like Alloy, Overstock, Go Jane, or any department store like JCPenney's. As for the accesories, be creative and take liberties with these, because the accesories are the things that turn a regular dress into a halloween costume. Also, it's going to be chilly and you know that you'll need to bring a jacket. Perhaps try to coordinate your coat or hat with your costume, to save the annoyance of people asking, "Now, who are you supposed to be??"
